While I was living abroad in London, I worked as a press agent at the national headquarters of the Green Party of England and Whales. Essentially, that dark flipside of journalism known as "PR." But PR for the environmentally conscious. So it balances out.

My job was to man the phones and to find answers for journalists and warm bodies television and radio producers who called the press office. Also, I monitored the daily newspapers and wrote press releases and letters to the editor.

Working at the Green Party was the first time I realized that the "other people" who ran the world looked amazingly like me and my friends. Scary thought.
