Printing Instructions
How do we fit our forty-plus pages of content in each issue into just 10-12 printed pages? Easy: we use our space VERY efficiently, printing on both sides of the paper, and creating a final bound product that is both beautiful and functional. You can do it just about anywhere. It takes less than five minutes. Ready? Go.

To begin, you'll need:

1. a Printer
2. 10-12 blank sheets of copy paper.
3. a rubber band (big thin one's work best) or a stapler with decent range (it has to reach across half a page of standard US letter paper.

If your printer prints with the INK SIDE DOWN (like most laser printers) click here.

If your printer prints with the INK SIDE UP (like most inkjet printers) click here.

Part 1: Printing (for ink side down/blank side up printers like laser printers.)

Step 1. Download Part "a" of the document you'd like to print, this could be a whole issue or a particular story. You'll need the Adobe Reader to print from Toner, available for free right here. Open Part "a."

Step 2. Print Part "a," making sure there's plenty of paper in the printer.

Step 3. When Part "a" has finished printing, take the stack of papers (which should be ink side down) and place them back in the paper feed tray without rotating, revolving or flipping them in any way. That is, the left TOP corner lying in the printer tray (ink side down, blank side up) you print out should remain the left TOP corner in th

Step 4. Download Part "b" of the same document, open in Adobe Reader, and print. The printed type on both sides of the completed pages should all point to the same edge of the paper.

Part 2: Assembly

Step 5. Toner is just as easy to assemble as it is to print. You should find the cover on one end of the stack of printouts in your printer tray. Fold that piece of paper in half so that page 1 (the cover) is on the outside.

Step 6: Repeat with the sheet of paper that was underneath the cover, folding in half so that page three ends up on the outside, and place inside the folded cover page. The first four pages should now be in order, starting with the cover.

Step 7. Repeat with the remaining sheets, making sure to keep the correct page outside the fold. Each time you fold and add a page to the final booklet, you should increase the number of ordered pages by two.

Step 8. Once you've inserted the final piece of paper in the middle of your document (these two pages middle pages should have sequential page numbers e.g. 24, 25 or 5,6) secure by wrapping the rubber band around the middle of the booklet. If you prefer, you can also staple along the fold on the middle spread. This requires a pretty heavy duty stapler.

You should now be able to turn pages normally and enjoy the issue!
