Why the name "Toner Magazine"?

Toner works in two ways. It signifies our goal of building up writers, of pushing them to do better, more interesting work for us, and of raising the bar for writers everywhere.

Toner also signifies our unique place in the market; we are the first reader-published magazine, the first professionally laid out periodical with completely de-centralized distribution. We make it, you print it, and the Toner that ends up on paper is your own. It’s a very exciting concept; we hope you enjoy it.

Who writes for Toner?

Lots of people. Toner has a network of several hundred writers scattered across North America. Click here for more information or here to join Toner's network of writers.

Do I need any special software to print Toner?

You’ll need the latest version of Adobe Reader, available here. After that, check out our printing instructions and you’re good to go.

How can I get involved with Toner?

Check out the “Here’s how it works” in the contibutor section, or click here. Interested artists can check out our design section here. Toner is only made possible through a network of dedicated individuals dedicating their time and talents to something they’re passionate about. Lastly, join our mailing list for Toner updates and opportunities. If you’d like to join us, you’re more than welcome to get on board.

Does Toner pay writers for their stories or artists for their artwork?

Toner is dedicated to writing for writers, ignoring the needs of advertisers and the businessmen upstairs. Needless to say, we aren’t making any money. Hopefully, writers won’t mind not making any either.

This is a magazine devoted to creating. Creating something new, something different, something of quality. We think that’s something people want to be a part of. Hundreds already are.

I represent another publication, and I’m interested in syndicating something I read in Toner Magazine. Who should I talk to about this?

Toner Magazine is all about the development of our writers, and so we welcome any lawful syndication of their work. That said, any negotiations concerning any writer’s work must take place between that writer and the publication willing to buy or republish the piece in question.

All publication rights, except those expressly stated in our contributor’s rights, are held by the writers themselves; for their own protection, we don’t disclose writer contact information to anybody. However, if you’d like to get in touch with any writer, send an email to press@tonermagazine.com. We’ll get in touch with that writer, give them your information, and let them get back to you.

I don’t feel like printing anything. Can I buy a subscription to Toner and have it delivered?

Right now, we don’t offer subscriptions for mail delivery. Hopefully our printing instructions have made getting your hands on an issue of Toner easy enough, and perhaps someday you’ll be able to subscribe.

Why can't I click on any of the email addresses on the site?

We've had trouble with spammers, people who take our email addresses and send them viruses and ads for porn, and scrapers, programs that scour the net for email addresses, and then use them to send the same viruses and porn advertisements to other people. And then those people think it was us that sent the viruses... it's not a good thing.

So, we fixed the problem by replacing the @ symbol on the addresses we post with a little picture of the @ symbol. But, now the contact information on the site is "unclickable." You can fix that problem by physically typing in the address you'd like to reach.

How can I get my own FREE tonermagazine.com email address?

Easy! Just go to the front page and click the "sign up" button at the top. You'll be taken to a sign up page; just select the "Free" option, enter your info, and you'll be ready to email in style.

You can login to your email right from Toner Magazine.com. And, honest, there's no strings attached.

Hey! You didn't answer my question! What gives!?

We'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have; email questionstonermagazine.com, and we'll get back to you. Please note that everyone is very busy around here; it may take a few days to get a response.
